With Easter on the way this is a good time to reflect on our life in the Faith. At the beginning of the new year we make resolutions, usually connected to some habit or behavior and bettering ourselves in the coming days, weeks and months. The season of Lent, which is observed in the Catholic church and by some more liturgical Protestant churches, should serve as the "new year" of our faith.
It's a great time to pray and reflect on how you served God and your fellow man in the last year. A time to confess your failures and get guidance from the Holy Spirit on what God would have you to "resolve" to do better on in the coming year. A time for refreshing and spiritual renewal.
Sometimes we throw out the baby with the bathwater when it comes to liturgical ideas. Some tend to see them as legalistic or burdensome. When it comes to reflectin on how we are serving our Lord and Savior, there is nothing wrong with going to a quiet place and letting God speak to us, and spring forth change in us.
All this is done so we can get ready for the resurrection. It better equips us to answer the question Jesus posed to Peter. "Who do YOU say that I am."
Enjoy Lent, reflect on the Cross and get ready for the Resurrection.
