J103:
MEET THE JOCKS

Ted Gocke - Morning Show Host
Ted Gocke is the Host of the Morning Show and has been involved with J-103 almost since the beginning. Ted is married and stays busy with his beautiful wife Amy and three children. Ted, a former youth pastor, spent 23 years in church ministry. He loves working with students and children: Lauren, Trevor and Chipper. In what little spare time he has he enjoys body-building, (and he uses that term very "loosely"), and actually has competed on stage (for a good laugh-search YouTube for Ted Gocke). Ted also enjoys watching and announcing youth sports, playing; volleyball, softball, camping, swimming and just spending time with his family and friends. Ted is a graduate from the University of Louisville and a Louisville, KY native. He was raised in church all of his life and was saved at the age of 16. A year later he accepted the call into full-time ministry. His life verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

Mike Lee - Afternoon Show Host
Mike Lee started in radio back in 1978. He's worked in places as small as Needles, CA and bigger places like Phoenix and Atlanta. The Tennessee Valley has been home since 1994. Mike has been doing his best to shine the light since coming to Christ in 1987. Mike and his wife Trish served as directors of Military Christian Servicemen's Centers in Sicily and Germany from '90-'94 and he also worked with the Armed Forces Network in Europe. Mike was part of the original WNIV Atlanta airstaff...the first 24 hour CCM station in the country. He also served as Program Director and morning host during 102.7's morph into J-103 back in 1997. Mike and his wife Trish have been married 21 years and have one daughter, Melinda and the coolest grandson in the world, Tanner.

Brett Ritchey - Evening Host
Brett is your evening host and the full time production director at J103. Brett grew up in the Chattanooga area, but spent most of his teenage years in Atlanta before moving back to attend UTC. He began working part time at J103 in 2007 after being "discovered" by a J103 employee at his part time job at Chili's, and took over the full time production director job in June of 2008. Brett enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend Becca, playing video games and competitive ultimate frisbee in his spare time.

Steve Green - The Weekend Rewind
Fascinated with radio from a very early age, Steve has had a life-long career in the business. He recalls, “My parents gave me an AM transistor radio (scary isn’t it?) when I was about 6. I glued it to my ear and listened constantly. I have always loved music, but was more fascinated with the announcers and what they said and did.” This fascination with both music and radio led Steve to pursue a degree in Broadcasting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (his home town). Another memory: “I wanted to be a rock ‘n roll disc jockey as far back as I can remember, but in a very dramatic way God showed me a different plan. An experience in a production studio in a Christian radio station back in 1983 forever changed my life. I knew from that night forward, God meant for me to be in Christian radio.” Although his career has led down many paths that have included many years of station management, he still has great passion for what is on the air. “I love doing the Weekend Rewind because it is an opportunity to keep up with the technology changes in our business and try to keep my skills sharp. Plus the Christian music from the past three decades is very special to me. I love my role as the Station Manager of J103, but can’t wait for Sunday afternoons when I get to play for awhile!”

Bernie Miller - Sunday Praise Host

Dr. Miller's background includes both records and radio. He has worked on the radio in Baltimore, MD., Harrisburg, PA., Jacksonville, Fla., Oakland, CA., Washington, DC., Chicago, IL., Memphis and Chattanooga. Dr. Miller has been heavily involved in the Chattanooga community since his arrival in 1990. Dr. Miller is also a professor at his alma mater, Covington Theological Seminary.
