“It changed my life at a time when I thought my life was over.” That was just one positive comment from a participant in a DivorceCare Divorce Care Support Group. Locally, a new group is scheduled to start Tuesday, January 29 , 2019 at Hope Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Chickamauga. The group will meet weekly on Tuesdays for 13 sessions from 7 – 9 p.m.
DivorceCare is a network of 15,000+ churches worldwide equipped to offer divorce support groups. The program is nondenominational and features practical information and biblical teaching on how to recover from divorce or separation. Sessions deal with common concerns such as anger, depression, loneliness, financial survival and how to move on with a healthy and productive life.
According to Rebecca Morton, one of the group leaders, “This program is based on the Bible, but “our goal is to offer healing resources that apply to all people.”
The format for each session is a video seminar followed by a group discussion led by individuals who have been divorced and gone through the healing process themselves. The cost for the entire course is $15.00 to cover the cost of the course workbook, but scholarships are available. Each session stands alone, so participants can pick up any sessions that they miss during the next 13-week cycle.
