J103's Economic Update

As many of you have heard on the radio we are being affected in a big way by the economy, so I would like to take just a few minutes and let you know exactly what is going on. First of all, please keep in mind that our ministry is funded in two ways: we have individual and corporate supporters, and we have corporate advertisers. Our advertising revenues have taken quite a hit since the beginning of the year. When most companies start facing financial hardship, the first thing they cut back is their advertising budget. This lack of advertising revenue is creating a deficit each month here at the radio station.

Obviously this state of affairs greatly impacts the way that we do ministry. In the last three months we have had to lay off 25% of our staff. We had to make these cuts to be able to keep broadcasting the gospel in a four-state area. After all, that's what it's all about. That's why God raised up this ministry almost fifteen years ago-to broadcast the gospel of Jesus Christ through the radio waves. We have been able to do just that, but it will be difficult to continue doing so with limited resources in terms of both staff and funding.

I truly believe in this ministry. Almost every day we receive phone calls, emails, and letters about how J103 is touching people's lives. We hear everything from, "I was at the end of my rope and J103 helped me put everything back in perspective," to, "I gave my life to Christ while listening," to, "the music you play everyday helps me keep Christ the focal point of my day." This feedback is confirmation that J103 is being used in a big way to further the Kingdom.

There are two ways you can help us during these trying times. First, you can pray for us. Please join with us in thanking God for all that He does for us each day, and pray that He would help turn our financial situation around. Second, you can also get involved financially. It is those people who are faithful to give twenty and thirty dollars per month who are keeping us on the air right now. Click here if you would like to make a contribution.

If you have any questions or concerns, we would be more than happy to address them. Feel free to call us at 423-892-1200. Thank you for your love and support of J103!
